Teaching Impressions

Teaching students at public school is not easy because of many reasons, but in my experience was the following: During the classes my partner and I had the habit of walking among the classroom offering help to students who had doubts, so, they began to trust us and to do all activities that we proposed.
It improved also, when we started to explore subjects that made part of their lives, such as social networks.
Then, I could notice that they became more interested and it increased their interaction during the class.
By that, I could perceive that our close interaction with the students made them more likely to learn, however, it only worked when the subject of the class involved them somehow.

  1. Hey!
When we are teaching something that is closer to their lives, they always like!
Current music, movies or even talking about social networks like Twitter or Facebook.
It was also this way with my students!

  2. It is true, Darlene!
As we talk about stuffs that interested them, we could achieve their background knowledge and make things easier to them. As a result, their learning process increased because they liked the subject and were motivated to pay attention in the class.
Our close interaction with them also helped us to construct bonds of friendship and it created a relationship of mutual respect between us.

  5. That's true Darlene, in my case I was the alien of the class, because my parthner was already teaching them since 2010, so talking about things that they usually like and respecting them is fundamental for a good relationship.

  6. Becoming friend with students and talk about what interests them is a great practice to take their attention. When all power stays in teacher's hands, students feel afraid of making mistakes and not comfortable to interact in classroom.Teacher just have to put limit in friendship with his students, otherwise respect will get lost.
