Since the beggining of the proposal, the students did not demonstrate any interest in doing the activity, which was really unencouraging. However, the video was already set as part of their grades, and it had to happen. There were many complainings about the patterns, mainly about the language, because they could only use English. Fostering and supporting students to complete the task, the day of the videos' presentation was a big surprise. The students made a really good job! The videos were really well organized, and there were even some great performances. Concluding, the students manifested themselves able to realize the "challenge" with excellent results, and showed us their potential, which was underestimated at first.

I agree with Carlos. It was a very pleasant sensation to notice that they really put effort to accomplish the video maker task, although in the beginning it seemed to be almost impossible. This activity showed us they get well with technology.

Hey!
ResponderExcluirIn my class happened almost the same! In the beginnning I tought they wouldn't make the activity, they seemed to hate the topics and the entire idea of making a video in English was not pleasant for them at all.
But in the end, everybody made the videos, they presented and it was a very interesting and surprising experience!

I totally agree with Carlos and Marcos,as we did the same activity with our students. They really put effort to accomplish the video, they asked for help, they followed the rules, answered the questions, etc. Everybody participated.

What a nice experience!!!
ResponderExcluirI really believe that making productions is a great way of learning and that is most times surprising. We are used to think that the students don’t like the subject or that they don’t know anything about it. Most times we underestimate them and because of that we think they are not able to produce nothing. But it is proving to be a wrong concept. When we give them the opportunity to express their own opinions/ideas and to participate actively in the classes they prove to be really engaged and participative. Although in my group there were not so many productions as I wish it had, the ones that were made showed really good results!
I agree with you Camilla, students demonstrate much greater interest in class when we use technological resources. Teachers must learn how to deal with technological innovations in order to teach in a more effectively way.

That was a good idea! I would be concerned if the students did not have a camera! rs
ResponderExcluirWell, I think this should have been a good opportunity for students to use the English language. Very good!
