PRODOCÊNCIA

I simply have no words to describe how glad I was by the end of the teaching practice.  Teaching in PRODOCÊNCIA project was definitely a turning point in my life. I am saying so because of the invaluable experience the students and I shared – yes, I learnt loads with them.  For the first time in my life I put myself in the first-year undergraduates` shoes and... I suffered with them, I laughed with them, I freaked out with them, I studied with them, I talked non-stop with them, I had great fun with them. Next time somebody asks me “why do people do Languages at university?” (and let`s agree... they do this with such a wry smile upon their faces), I will surely refer to PRODOCÊNCIA students and say: WE DO LANGUAGES TO MAKE THE DIFFERENCE AND TO SAY NO TO ANY KIND OF LIMITATION OR FRUSTRATION. This is the bottom line.

    I had the opportunity to follow the prodocencia with my friend Mary and I saw the wonderful work being done with students. Students could have the opportunity to study outside the classroom and this assistance helped them all the materials they needed.

    I can't say much about your PRODOCENCIA experience because it's true that I don't know much about this project. However, I'd like to leave a comment on your last but remarkable sentence:

    "WE DO LANGUAGES TO MAKE THE DIFFERENCE AND TO SAY NO TO ANY KIND OF LIMITATION OR FRUSTRATION. This is the bottom line".

    This could be my answer to the so commonly asked question "Why do you study Languages?". Without being impolite, there's a way to show people that we are proud of being language learners (teachers are always learners) and we do want to make the difference.
